Carlos Sonesen, 45 of Melbourne, was arrested on November 2nd for failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements. The charges stem from Sonesen not reporting all vehicles he owned or had access to.
When someone is court ordered to be on the sex offender registry in Arkansas, state law requires certain information to be registered with the sex offender registry through their local law enforcement agency. This information includes all vehicles owned or used by the sex offender. These laws are in place to protect the public if a sex offender does re-offend.
Sheriff Melton said "not all sex offenders will re offend, but we can not take that chance. To help protect the public, any sex offender not complying with sex offender registry laws in Izard County will be prosecuted".
