The Izard County Sheriff's Office will be participating in the National Drug Take Back Day Saturday, October 29.
Those wishing to drop of unwanted, unused or out of date narcotics may bring them by the Izard County Sheriff's Office between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
"With Arkansas ranking Number 2 in Opioid prescriptions, we have seen a huge increase in the use of legal and illegal drugs in our communities," Chief Deputy Charley Melton said.
"We work to help educate people with drug abuse and our department actively works to help those with chemical dependency problems. Helping dispose of prescription drugs is just one of our safety measures."
"Stop by, dispose of those unwanted and unused items and treat yourself to a hot dog while you are here. We will have members of our staff along with individuals from Hometown Health and Wellness on hand from 10 till 2."
