Today is International Overdose Awareness Day.  It is the world's largest annual campaign to end overdose, remember those who have died without stigma and acknowledge the grief of those left behind.

The Izard County Sheriff's Office sees first-hand the problems that are a result of drugs and sadly, it sometimes results in death.

Because of the growing problem we are working with individuals who are actively wanting help with addiction.

During the past six months the Izard County Sheriff's Office has worked closely with Judges, Prosecutors, Probation and Parole Officers and others to help men and women with long-term drug problems get the necessary help they need.

We are also providing Narcan training classes and making Narcan kits available.

"We ask that people remember to "Don't Run, Call 911" when someone is overdosing.

For more information on educational and rehabilitation programs through the Izard County Sheriff's Office contact Chief Deputy Charley Melton.
