On Thursday July 15 around 10:05 a.m. the Izard County Sheriff's Office was notified that the body of a woman had been discovered in a ditch and possibly deceased.
The body was found a little over a mile down Red Lamb Road in Melbourne.
During the course of the investigation, officers spoke to a woman nearby who had returned from work to discover her daughter was not at home.
The officers were able to positively identify the woman as 44-year-old Rebekah Johnson.
The investigation is ongoing, but no foul play is expected.
The body has been sent to the crime lab for an official cause of death.
