MATTHEW GARNER

On Friday October 30th ,2020 officers of the Izard County Sheriff's Department and the Arkansas State Police took Matthew P. Garner age 32 into custody at his residence in Sage, Arkansas. Charges of Attempted Capital Murder a class Y Felony and Battery in the First Degree a class B Felony were brought by Prosecuting Attorney Eric Hance of the 16th Judicial District after an extensive investigation. The charges arise out of an incident on October 28,2019 at an address on the Knob Creek Road in Melbourne, Arkansas. Kyle Cantrell of that address was shot three times from ambush in the early morning hours as he was leaving to go to work. Cantrell was the Manager of the local Sonic and Garner had been employed there before being dismissed by Cantrell.
