IZARD COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT SHERIFF JACK YANCEY

As a result of an ongoing investigation of Izard County Sheriff's Department and the 16th Judicial DTF into drug trafficking in and around Izard County, information was developed that a drug delivery might take place in the area of Jordan's Convenience Store in Melbourne. On Tuesday morning the 14th of July the area was placed under surveillance by the Izard County Sheriff's Department and what was believed to be a delivery was observed. Officers with the Izard County Sheriff's converged on the scene and took into custody, one Hispanic male later identified as Ernesto Salas Berdejo age 43, with a Batesville, Arkansas address. The Department's drug dog (Hugo) was deployed and approximately 2.7 Pounds of Methamphetamine was seized, (estimated street value of $125,000). It was determined that Berdejo is currently on parole for a Negligent Homicide charge. Berdejo is facing Izard County charges of Trafficking a Controlled Substance, To wit; Methamphetamine, 200 grams or more as well as an enhancement due to proximity of Certain Facilities. Berdejo is currently being held on $100,000 dollar Bond and a parole hold of the Dept. Of Corrections.
