Officers of the Izard County Sheriff’s Department and the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force obtained information that marijuana plants were being grown a residence off West Road near Mt. Pleasant. Acting on this information July 13 officers observed the plants adjoining property, and through their training and experience determined that the plants were in fact marijuana. The officers waited for the property owner to return home from his employment in Batesville at which time a search was conducted on his residence. Once inside the residence , officers found processed marijuana, rolling papers, and a small quantity of pills.
James Gregory Farris of 1013 West Road, Mt. Pleasant was transported to the Izard County Detention Facility where according to Sheriff Tate Lawrence charges were formalized to include manufacture of a controlled substance, a class “c” felony; possession of drug paraphernalia, a class “c” felony; and possession of controlled substance, a class “a” misdemeanor. Farris was released from the Izard County Detention Facility after posting a $20,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Izard County Circuit Court.
