Arrest Made in Calico Rock Burglary

An arrest was made July 1 in connection with the November commercial burglary and criminal mischief at Mitchell’s Park Street Pharmacy in Calico Rock. Immediately following the incident, an in-store security video recorder showed that a white male with a jacket and hood entered the store. A white minivan was recorded puling into the lot of the business. Later information indicated that the person in the video was that of Shawn Patrick Quinn, age 25 , now of Rector. The owner of the van was identified as Gwen Patterson of Calico Rock who, at the time of the incident, denied knowing the individual in the video but it was later learned by authorities that Quinn was living at the Patterson residence. Quinn told authorities during an interview that he had in fact entered the pharmacy and that was to satisfy an initiation requirement into organization ran by Eric Bear of Calico Rock who is known to live at the Patterson residence. Quinn remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $5,000 bond. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that the case remains under investigation with the possiblity of a least one other person being charged.



Meggan June Sims, age 20 of Calico Rock was arrested June 28 on a theft of property charge, a class “a” misdemeanor. Meggan is accused of stealing a metal ornamental rooster from an antique store in Calico Rock. Sims appeared Thursday in the Izard County District Court and was sentenced to time served in jail and a fine. Megan was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Baxter County authorities alerted the Izard County Sheriff’s Department early Sunday morning that they had learned that a vehicle they had stopped was stolen only after the vehicle was released from the traffic stop. The stolen vehicle and driver were located at the Harvey Loosey residence off Arkansas Highway 5 North near Calico Rock. The driver, Steve Young was taken into custody and Deputy Mark Simino and turned of to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Department. The vehicle was returned to the owner.

Izard County Sheriff’s Department was notified Sunday night that a male identified as Jamie Finley had escaped their facility earlier in the evening and was possibly heading to Little Rock in white Toyota truck. Later in the evening, Deputies Mark Simino and Phil Story initiated a traffic stop and arrested Finley and three other occupants of the vehicle. Fulton County authorities transported all four to Fulton County.

Donald McQueen, age 32 of Oxford was arrested Saturday on charges of public intoxication-drugs, disorderly conduct, and obstructing governmental operations. At the time of his arrest, McQueen tested positive of marijuana, opiates, meth, and amphetamines. McQueen remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $1,515 bond.

Nathaniel David Arnold, age 29 of Dolph was arrested June 26 on charges of driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit, and failure to stop after an accident. Arnold posted bond the following date in the amount of $1,260 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Kerry Edward Burns, age 54 of Calico Rock was arrested June 28 on the charge of harassment. Burns posted bond in the amount of $1,000 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Coy Dale Loggains, age 44 of Hardy was arrested Thursday on a failure to pay fines warrant. Loggains posted bond in the amount of $615 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Lane Wakeo Garrison, age 36 of Rose Trail, Melbourne was arrested Sunday on a violation of Arkansas hot check warrant. Garrison posted bond in the amount of $343 and was released from jail.

Steven William Chute, age 20 of Dolph was arrested June 26 on the charge of public intoxication. Chute was released from the Izard County Detention Facility the following day after posting bond in the amount of $205.

Bryon Dean Rayburn, age 40 of Ash Flat was arrested June 27 on a failure to pay fines warrant. Rayburn was released with a court date after appearing before District Judge David E. Miller.

Michael Joseph Kelly, age 21 of Franklin was transported Thursday from the Izard County Detention Facility to the Arkansas Department of Correction.
