A June 13 single car motor vehicle accident near Franklin resulted in the arrest and multiple charges against the driver. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that Stephen Jared Everett, age 37 of Melbourne was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, driving while intoxicated, careless driving, operating a vehicle without license plates, operating a vehicle without insurance, and having no driving license. Everett made an initial appearance in district court on Thursday where bond was set at $2,615. Everett posted bond and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
Thomas Michael Hartranft, age 46 of Glenwood, Iowa was arrested the early Sunday morning on charges of speeding and driving while intoxicated. Hartranft made provision for bond later in the morning, given a court date, and released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
Jamie Clayton Stapleton, age 30 of Gorby Road, Calico Rock was arrested Tuesday on warrants charging him with failure to pay fines and fleeing. The fleeing charge stems from Stapleton running from deputies as they were attempting to serve the failure to pay warrant. Stapleton remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of a $1,640 bond on holds from Cleburne and Baxter counties.
A late Thursday call of deputies to a residence on Knob Creek Road resulted in the arrest of Tommie L. Johnson of that address on the charge of domestic battering third degree. According to the compliant, Michele Kane stated that she and Johnson had consumed several beers at their home when a physical altercation erupted between the two. Kane reported that she was attacked by Johnson, was choked, hit in the face area and head slammed against the floor. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that Kane had bruising and selling on her left upper cheek and was transported by ambulance to an area hospital. Johnson appeared before District Judge David E. Miller the following day, was released from the Izard County Detention Facility, and given a court date.
Elmer Lee Snider III, age 18 of Mt. Pleasant was arrested early Friday morning on charges of underage age driving under the influence, careless and prohibited driving, and failing to report an accident. Snider was released from the Izard County Detention Facility after appearing before Judge Miller.
Joshua A. Birkhead, age 27 of Salem was arrested Friday night on charges of driving while intoxicated and drinking in public. Birkhead posted bond the following and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
David Russ Melton, age 46 of Batesville was arrested June14 on charges of domestic battering third degree and possessing a controlled substance. According to Sheriff Tate Lawrence, deputies visited with the domestic violence victim, Katy Mason in the emergency room of a Batesville hospital. Mason complained that Melton returned home from fishing and was very intoxicated and that he began yelling and cursing and started hitting, kicking and placed her in a head lock. Mason further stated she was covered with blood and that Melton forced her to take a bath. A search of Melton’s vehicle revealed two Hydracodone pills inside the console and without a prescription. Melton appeared June 15 before Judge David Miller, given a court date, and released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
After investigating a suspicious vehicle at the Wiseman Cemetery on Friday night and determining that the vehicle had been taken to that location by an unauthorized person and that the vehicle had been deliberately damaged, a Horseshoe Bend woman was arrested. Stacy Ann Alberson, age 34 was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and criminal mischief second degree. Alberson posted bond later in day in the amount of $2,210 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
Jordan Randell Meadows, age 18 of Calico Rock was arrested June 14 on the charge of assault on a family member third degree. Meadows is accused to assaulting his grandmother. Meadows remains in the Izard County Detention Facility.
Jeremy John Hands, age 36 of Calico Rock was arrested Saturday on a violation of Arkansas hot check law warrant. Hands posted bond the day of his arrested in the amount of $250 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
Paul Alexander Rodgers, age 48 of Melbourne was arrested June 14 on a failure to appear warrant. Rogers appeared in Izard County District Court June 17 and was released.
Six inmates of the Izard County Detention Facility who had been previously sentenced to the Arkansas Department of Correction and awaiting bed space were transported to various correction facilities. Those transported included Jason George Krumsick, age 38 of Gepp; Jonathan Hall, age 28 of Viola; Richard Shawn Winters, Jr., age 20 of Horseshoe Bend; Gregory Scotte Bates, age 42 of Cave City; Jeremy Wayne Niederbrach, age 32 of Salem; and Jesse Lee Shands, age 59 of Horseshoe Bend.
