In response to several complaints by residents of the Millcrest Addition in Melbourne, the Izard County Sheriff’s Department has intensified efforts to reduce speeding and the disregard of stop signs. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that since school is out there will be lots of children playing in the neighborhood and that it is of great safety importance to obey speed limit and traffic control signs. The sheriff said he hopes there will be voluntary compliance and that the issuing of citations will not be necessary.
