The Izard County Sheriff’s Department recently began using a trailer mounted speed display sign to advise motorists of the speed they are traveling and the posted speed limit. The sign will flash when the speed limit is exceeded. The sign is being used in areas where there have been complaints of speeding. The areas are generally residential areas. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said the sign will be used for a few days in each of the compliant areas in an effort to reduce speed and enhance the safety of everyone. Sheriff Lawrence would like to remind everyone to not exceed the posted speed limits and he reminds motorists that in the absence of a posted speed limit in city, the limit is 25 miles per hour.
