Last week members of the Izard and Fulton County Drug Court traveled to Nashville, TN to attend training on setting up and maintaining a Drug Court Program. Team members learned the latest methodology and statistics on Drug Courts, and were provided with information on the way drugs affect the body, proper strategies for community supervision of offenders, the 10 key components to maintaining a drug court, and various other materials. The team also had the opportunity to work collaboratively on issues for the local Drug Court. Team members who attended the conference were Circuit Judge John Dan Kemp, Sheriff Tate Lawrence, Deputy Prosecutor Daniel Brightwell, Public Defender Bev Claunch, Drug Court Probation Officer Josh Moorehead, and Drug Court Administrative Specialist Julie Sanders. The Izard and Fulton County Drug Court plans on being operational by July 1st, 2010.
