COURT SECURITY TRAINING CONDUCTED
Several officers of the Juvenile Division of the 16th Judicial District attended court security officer training conducted and sponsored by the Izard County Sheriff’s Department. Both Brighwell and Blackley are certified instructors for the course. Court security is an integrated approach to the judicial process that ensure the integrity and safety of the court system. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that this training is the second of such conducted and sponsored by the Izard County Sheriff Department.
SEX OFFENDER RELOCATES OUT OF IZARD COUNTY
Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence recently announced that a level three sex offender previously living at HC 82 Box 015J , Violet Hill has moved. Lawrence said that Palmer Lee Ward now resides in Fulton County.
STOLEN PROPERTY RECOVERY CONTINUES
The Izard County Sheriff’s Department continues to recover stolen property following the initial arrests of Chase Hussang, age 18 of Hardy and an seventeen year old Melbourne juvenile. Hussang was previously charged with breaking and entering and three counts of theft while the juvenile was previously charged with breaking and entering and two counts of theft in Izard County and other theft related charges in Sharp County. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said both face additional charges as the result of the department recovering previously reported stolen items. The two apparently began their thieving spree in May and continued it until at least the middle of July. In total, seven theft incidences each with multiple charges have occurred. Sheriff Lawrence said the department continues to formalize charges against the two and the investigation is continuing. Hussang is currently jailed in Sharp County while the juvenile is on house arrest in Fulton County.
In unrelated activity, deputies were dispatched the night of August 2 to 2601 Highway 56, Calico Rock in response to an altercation involving a small child being struck by an adult female. Rachel Marie Nalley, age 20 was arrested and charged with domestic battering third degree and Vincent Lee Hatfield, age 23 of the same address was charged with obstructing governmental operations. The seven month old child was placed with the Arkansas Department of Human Services. Nalley was released from jail the following day and given a court date after appearing before District Judge David E. Miller and Hatfield posted bond the day of his arrest and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
In another domestic situation, James Stanley Cockerel, age 53 of Red Lane in Calico Rock was arrested Friday night on the charge of domestic battering third degree. Cockerel remains in the Izard County Detention Facility pending a court hearing.
Following a report August 2 by a female residing on Locus Street in Melbourne that she had been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend resulted in the arrest of Zack Warren Drake, age 29 of Batesville. Drake was charged with domestic battering third degree. Sheriff Tate Lawrence and Deputy Ed Sollock had to forcibly enter the house when Drake refused to come to the door. Drake posted bond August 4 in the amount of $1,000 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
A Fifty-Six man, Jeremy Lynn Faulkner, age 31 was brought to the Izard County Detention Facility Saturday night following a traffic stop and multiple charges. Faulkner was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, and having no seat belt. While initiating the arrest on the above charges, Faulkner became extremely combative with arresting officers and as the result was charged with assault second degree, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental operations, terrorist threatening second degree, refusal to submit to a chemical test, and a second revisiting charge while at the Izard County Detention Facility. Faulkner remaining incarcerated pending formal felony charges.
Following a vehicle accident on state highway 69 near Mt. Pleasant Saturday night, Mathew Ray Eden, age 25 of Batesville was arrested on charges of driving while intoxication, reckless driving, and having no seat belt. Eden remains in the Izard County Detention ;Facility in lieu of $1,845 bond.
William Eugene Wilkins, age 56 of Calico Rock was arrested August 2 for public intoxication. Wilkins posted bond later that day in the amount of $205 and was released from jail.
Richard Alford Magourik, age 23 of Melbourne was arrested Friday night on charges of driving left of center and driving with a suspended license along with a Baxter County warrant. Magourik posted bond in the amount of $1,515 later that day and was released from the Izard County Detention; Facility.
Jeremy David Wray, age 32 of Salem was arrested August 2 on the charge of driving on a suspended license and a failure to appear warrant. Wray was released from the Izard County Detention Facility after posting bond in the amount of $590.
Stephen Scott McCurley, age 37 of Wireman was arrested August 3 on violation of Arkansas hot check law warrant. McCurley posted bond in the amount of $313 and was released.
Jacob Wayne Heikes , age 24 of Calico Rock was arrested August 6 on a failure to appear warrant. Heikes posted bond the following day in the amount of $420 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
Jamie Jaunita Chism, age 28 of the Pineville/Calico Rock areas was arrested Saturday on an Izard County warrant for failure to appear and a Baxter County warrant. Chism remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $3505 bond.
Laci Dawn Jones, age 18 of Melbourne was arrested August 1 on a Horseshoe Bend failure to pay fines warrant. Jones was released the following day by Horseshoe Bend authorities.
Michael Aaron Holt, age 47 of Sidney was arrested August 4 on an Independence County warrant and was released to Independence County authorities.
