According to Chief Deputy Charley Melton on January 14 Deputy Sean Tomlinson was patrolling in Melbourne when he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and a headlight that was not working. He stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Matthew Martin, age 29 of Batesville, and the passenger as Miguel Gomez, age 29 of Batesville. Upon checking ACIC/NCIC Tomlinson was advised that both had active warrants for their arrest. Tomlinson described both Matin and Gomez and being nervous and acting fidgety. Both were taken out of the vehicle and searched. Marijuana was found on Martin's person. Tomlinson then deployed his K-9 partner "Mendy" who alerted on the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle by Tomlinson and Sgt. Mike Smith, multiple pills, a crystalline substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine, and a glass smoking device were found. Martin and Gomez were charged with possession of a controlled substance, to wit methamphetamine, a class "c" felony; possession with the purpose to use drug paraphernalia, a class "d" felony; possession of a controlled substance, schedule IV, a class "a" misdemeanor; possession of a controlled substance, schedule VI, a class "a" misdemeanor. Their bonds were set at $20,000 professional with a court date of January 20 in the Izard County Circuit Court.

 

On January 13, Brenton Needle, age 34 of Horseshoe Bend, was arrested by Deputy Jim Davis for a warrant for failure to appear. After Needle was at the jail, Deputy Davis located crystalline substance in Needle's jacket that was being concealed in a flashlight. As a result, Needle was charged with possession of a controlled substance, to wit methamphetamine, a class "d" felony and possession of drug paraphernalia, a class "d" felony. His bond was set at $15,000 professional with a court date of January 20 in the Izard County Circuit Court.

 

On January 11 Trooper Johnson arrested Joshua Mohlke, age 39 of Horseshoe Bend, for equipment violation, no proof of insurance, and DWI. Mohlke also had a large amount of marijuana eatables and paraphernalia. Mohlke was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, a class "a" misdemeanor, and possession of a controlled substance, to with marijuana, a class "d" felony. He is scheduled to appear in the Izard County Circuit Court on January 20 and his bond was set at $500 cash only.

 

On January 13 Aaron Youmans, age 48 of Melbourne, was arrested for improper passing, fleeing in an auto, and endangering the welfare of a minor. Youmans is scheduled to appear in the Izard County District Court on February 4.

 

On January 14 Zabrian Meek, age 40 of Horseshoe Bend, was arrested by Probation/Parole Officers for parole violations.
